<p>The latest addition to my camera gear is the <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00005K47X?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=wwwanthonycne-21&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1634&amp;creative=6738&amp;creativeASIN=B00005K47X">Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/e/ir?t=wwwanthonycne-21&amp;l=as2&amp;o=2&amp;a=B00005K47X" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none!important;margin:0!important;" />, affectionately known as a “nifty fifty” by photographers and enthusiasts. With its aperture of f/1.8 at the widest it is a most versatile and useful lens. You might think that the fixed focal length is restrictive, it is actually a massive positive and I’ll tell you why. Because it makes you work harder! You cannot simply stand in front of your subject and zoom in and out – you have to move yourself and/or the subject.</p>
<p>Here are a couple of photos that I’ve taken with it:<br />
